This one’s thoughts on slavery…

This one had a friend ask her exactly what the difference between an Old World slave, or “Gorean” (for lack of a better word) and a mainstream slave, a slave and a sub. she offered a quick explanation of the differences, she has since been thinking at length on this issue. Thinking she may bore people silly, but not really caring, she thought she might offer a more in depth explanation for those who care to read (and learn). This one believes that if one has the knowledge to share, then share with those who seek. While this one does not claim to know everything, or even very much, she does know a little and that little she puts forward.

Coming into this lifestyle is hard, it is often terrifying, emotions that you never thought existed rear in one’s head often leaving one overwhelmed, confused, maybe even ashamed of their *warped* wants and needs. It has taken this one quite a few years to become at ease with who and what she is. The path was a hard one but it has been truly rewarding and enlightening, you learn much about yourself and others.

This one is what you could consider an Old world slave. Many Masters that she has come in contact with over the years believe that she is a *true* slave. This one is not quite sure if she is as she hates the terms and labels that we throw around so easily nowadays. All this one knows is that she is who she is; no more, no less. However, if she had to describe herself it would be as slave. This one started as sub (and domme), as most do when introduced to the lifestyle, although it was playing at power exchange; learning what each other liked, disliked, how far one could push the other. Then she became a mainstream “latex” slave and then eventually found the Old World style of slavery.

A “sub” (or what many Masters would call a “bottom”), as this one sees it, is one that offers themselves to a Dom for a limited amount of time. Be it a night, a weekend or a full time relationship. It is not binding, there is no expectation of a lasting submission, one has “safe words” if things get too much. It is an exchange of power; more often than not, *scenes* are spoken about, maybe written down in-depth and acted out. The scene usually revolves around the sub and their desire/fantasies, the scene ends, the Dom and sub go back to their normal lives. Hmmm wonder how many subs will go off at this one for writing these words. ~ponders this~

A “slave” (mainstream) is on the next level, she chooses to submit on a constant basis. They offer more of themselves both physically and psychologically to their Dom/Master than a sub would but they still have their limits and the exchange of power may be agreed upon with their Dom/Master. It can be either part time or full time but the slave still has a limited amount of control over her own life and the situations that their Dom/Master presents them. Safe words are still in place, soft limits will be pushed and *some* hard limits will also be looked at.

A “true slave” is one that gives up all control. A total power exchange, they have few limits, if any, and those they have are given to them by their Master or are their own Master’s limits. There are no safe words as the slaves trusts her Master to look after her and not damage her in any way, emotionally or physically. They no longer have any choices or power over their lives; they are there to serve their Master, nothing more. They serve another with no expectations other than to see their Master smile, to be pleased with them (they could be nothing more than a maid but would be blissfully happy with their lot in life). They are owned outright, like a pet might be, or a piece of land. Within Old World slavery this offering of the self is for *life*, or until the Master tires of the slave and releases her or *sells* her. Of course, real life often changes many things about this style of slavery, such as the selling of a human. (This one is not advocating non-consensual slavery, this is consensual; one understands what they are getting themselves into and accepts that fact).

The Old World, or Gorean, style of slavery that this one speaks of is as old as the Roman or Babylonian times. It is set out in detail within the books of Gor by John Norman. Yes, the books are nothing but fantasy but the concept of slavery portrayed within are ancient and were very real once upon a time. Many within the mainstream lifestyle hate those that say they are “Old World/Gorean” and yet many live following similar protocols and philosophies as the Old World. One judges what they do not understand, a sad fact of life…. But anyway, this one is rambling now.

These are just this one’s thoughts, she does not expect many to take notice, nor does she want someone to take to heart what she says. There are hundreds of good websites within cyber-space (or better, real life interactions with those within the lifestyle) that offer better explanations into the lifestyle than she ever could.

~smiles bowing head~ This one thanks you for your time to read her words.

she wishes you well.
